Daniel Colón-Ramos was born and raised in Puerto Rico and is now the McConnell Duberg Professor of neuroscience and cell biology at Yale School of Medicine. In this interview Daniel shares insights from his journey in science, including the importance of belonging, and community, in STEM careers. Throughout his reflections he provides advice for underrepresented trainees and thoughts on how to achieve equity in STEM.

Daniel A. Colón-Ramos, PhD
Daniel A. Colón-Ramos, PhD, is the McConnell Duberg Professor of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at Yale University and the inaugural director of the Center for Neurodevelopment and Plasticity at the Wu Tsai Institute. Colón-Ramos grew up in Puerto Rico and received an AB from Harvard University in biological sciences. He received his PhD from Duke University and was a Damon Runyon postdoc fellow at Stanford University before joining the faculty of Yale in 2008. He is a founding member and associate director of the Wu Tsai Institute, whose mission is to understand human cognition through interdisciplinary research.
