Teresa Nicolson, PhD
Teresa Nicolson is a professor at the Oregon Hearing Research Center and the Vollum Institute. Her research is focused on the genetics of hearing and balance with a particular focus on the development and function of mechanosensory hair cells. Using a forward genetic approach in zebrafish, her work has helped to elucidate the conservation of function of deafness genes in vertebrates, and has yielded insight into the molecular basis of mechanotransduction and synaptic transmission in hair cells.
