Maria J. Donoghue is the senior associate dean for faculty affairs and strategic planning at Georgetown College of Arts and Sciences. Donoghue co-founded and directed a major in neurobiology and directed Georgetown's long-standing Howard Hughes Medical Institute University program. Her work investigates the molecules that help the brain develop properly during embryonic development. She has focused on how cells of the cerebral cortex gain unique identities and then carry out specific work in specialized networks. Work from the Donoghue laboratory has recently been published in The Journal of Neuroscience, Proceedings of the National Academies, and Cerebral Cortex. Previously, Donoghue served for a decade as a faculty member at Yale University School of Medicine.
