The Neuroscience Scholars Program is a two-year training program open to underrepresented graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Building on over 30 years of historic engagement, the program supports annual travel awards, mentoring, and the professional development of up to 18 candidates known as NSP Fellows. All materials available in this archive are provided open access to the field and are supported by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). Welcome to the “Enhancing Neuroscientific Discovery Through Diverse Communities 2021” virtual event, developed by the Neuroscience Scholars Program (NSP). As a part of a multifaceted approach to increase connectivity during these difficult times, SfN is hosting this virtual conference for NSP Scholars, NSP Alumni, and members of other NSP partner programs including BRAINS, D-SPAN, MINDS, and SPINES.

NSP webinars cover a wide range of professional development and neuroscience-related topics to help you stay abreast of the latest information and best practices in the field year round.

Annegret Falkner is an assistant professor of neuroscience at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute. She earned her PhD from Columbia University, and her research focuses on neural circuits for social decision-making.

Isaac Arelio holds a PhD in mathematics from the Universidad National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Juan Carlos Díaz-Patiño holds a PhD in mathematics from the Universidad National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Sarael Alcauter is an assistant professor in the department of behavioral and cognitive neurobiology at the Institute of Neurobiology, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Silke Nuber and coworkers generated and deeply characterized numerous transgenic rodent models to study PD and related disorders, including the first inducible α-synuclein (αS) transgenic mice, humanized BAC-wildtype human αS tg rat models.
