Shannon Farris, PhD, is an assistant professor at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech. She earned her BS in biochemistry from California Polytechnic State University and her PhD in biomedical Sciences from University of California, Irvine. Throughout her career, Farris has been interested in the molecular basis of memory. Her lab focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms supporting synaptic plasticity in genetically distinct hippocampal cell types and circuits, with a special interest in area CA2.
