Suelyn Koerich, PhD, PharmD
Suelyn Koerich, PhD, PharmD, is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She earned her pharmacy degree, followed by a master’s in pharmaceutical sciences (2017) and a PhD in physiology and pharmacology (2022) in Brazil. Her training and research has focused on neuroscience, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, using both in vitro and in vivo models. Under the mentorship of Keran Ma, her current research investigates microglial dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease through in vivo imaging and behavioral assays, integrating a plasma exchange technique to explore how targeting immune system alterations may lead to novel therapeutic strategies. This work seeks to clarify mechanistic links between peripheral immune factors, microglial activation, and neural circuit dysfunction.
