India Pursell
India Pursell (she/her) is a first-generation, Creole-Caucasian neuroscientist completing her doctoral training at Tulane University Brain Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana Tech University and received a BS in biological sciences. She researched stem cell tissue engineering and regenerative medicine with Jamie Newman and Mary Caldorera-Moore. After graduating, she accepted a lab tech position at Tulane University Center for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine with Bruce Bunnell followed by an additional role researching neuroendocrine & stress with Jeffrey Tasker. She currently works in Elizabeth Engler-Chiurazzi’s neuroimmunology lab investigating the relationship between the immune system, Alzheimer’s Disease, and cell-to-cell communication. She is also a part of several outreach committees promoting education for woman and low SES students in STEM.
