Earl K. Miller, PhD
Dr. Miller is a Picower Professor of Neuroscience at The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory and Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research focuses on investigating neural mechanisms involved in cognition, most recently observing the effects of propofol on these mechanisms and consciousness. Dr. Miller received his PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience from Princeton University, where he also completed a master's in Psychology and Neuroscience. He has received numerous prestigious honors and awards, with his most recent recognition being awarded this year by MIT for Excellence in Graduate Mentoring. In 2017, a paper he co-authored with Jonathan Cohen titled “An integrative theory of prefrontal cortex function” was recognized as the fifth most cited paper in neuroscience.
