Bernard Drumm, PhD
Bernard Drumm is a research assistant professor at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), where he uses optogenetic approaches to investigate intestinal motility and lower urinary tract smooth muscle contractility. His research investigates how Ca2+ signaling impacts the functions of visceral smooth muscle organs. His doctoral work, studying Ca2+ wave propagation in urethral cells. This was followed by a postdoctoral position at UNR, where he studied the regulation of pacemaker and neuroeffector mechanisms in gastrointestinal interstitial cells. He received a PhD in physiology from Dundalk Institute of Technology in Ireland.
