  • Hannah Lichtenstein
Hannah Lichtenstein is a PhD candidate at the Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State University (GSU). She is also a creative assistant for the Brains & Behavior Program at GSU. As a PhD candidate studying the impact of early-life adversity on microglia-mediated brain development, she is highly interested in how research findings can inform health and public policy, and communication. Her dissertation is focused on characterizing the role of microglia-mediated development of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)-expressing neurons in the central nucleus of the amygdala after early-life adversity.
  • Mikayla Kendall
Mikayla Kendall is an undergraduate neuroscience researcher and MARC-sunset Scholar at Georgia State University. Kendall is pursuing a career as a physician-scientist to expand health equity for marginalized communities. As a researcher, she is motivated to understand health disparities and find solutions, which has culminated in neuroscience and health policy research experiences. Committed to building inclusive communities, she is an active leader in the Association for Scientists of Color and co-developer of Youth Voice Matters, an organization promoting youth-adult power sharing. She investigates early life adversity's impacts on excitatory and inhibitory synaptic inputs onto corticotropin-releasing neurons in the central nucleus of the amygdala, a stress-sensitive region of the brain.
