Sergiy Yakovenko, PhD, is an associate professor at West Virginia University, where his lab studies the neuromechanical principles of motor control using experimental and computational approaches. Yakovenko received a BS in biophysics from the School of Radiophysics at Kharkiv National University in Ukraine and his PhD in neuroscience at the University of Alberta in Canada under the mentorship of Arthur Prochazka.

Derek L. Buhl, PhD, is the scientific director of AbbVie. With over a decade of experience in the industry, Buhl is responsible for the translational strategy for CNS disorders in late-stage discovery and across clinical development stages, first-in-human, proof-of-mechanism, proof-of-concept, registration studies as well as life cycle management studies. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in psychology and a PhD in neuroscience from Rutgers University-Newark.
