Building and Sustaining a Local Neuroscience Chapter: The SfN DCMA Chapter’s Story
In addition to many resources that SfN directly provides its members, it has several active local chapters within the United States and around the world. Chapters provide networking opportunities for members locally, while helping to foster regional neuroscience communities.

  • Eduardo Rosa-Molinar, PhD
Eduardo Rosa-Molinar, PhD, is a professor of cell biology and physiology, neuroscience, and imaging science and the scientific director of the Washington University Center for Cellular Imaging. Rosa-Molinar received his BS in natural sciences from the University of Alabama, his PhD in medical sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and was a postdoctoral research fellow at Creighton University School of Medicine. His research centers on the molecular, cellular, and functional mechanisms of electrical synapses in the vertebrate central nervous system, with a particular focus on gap junctions formed by Gjd2/Cx36 and Gjd1/Cx34.7. Rosa-Molinar is also a pioneer in the development of imaging technologies tailored to unravel the molecular architecture and functional dynamics of electrical synapses and founded the company TransynaptiX LLC in 2019 to expedite the translation of these imaging tools for neuroscience research.

Gray Postdoctoral Fellow in the Harty Laboratory in the pathology department at the University of Iowa’s Carver College of Medicine. Fain also is the chair of the 2027 Neuroimmune Communication in Health and Disease Gordon Research Seminar. Fain earned her PhD from the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences with a research focus in neuroimmunology, cancer and infectious disease. Her current research focuses on tissue-resident memory T cells and their accumulation in the brain in health, disease, and aging. Fain studies how these new resident cells in the brain affect distinct brain microenvironments and CNS function.

Spring 2026 NQ: Inside Neuroscience: Migraine Treatments and Insights
Migraine – a particular type of headache that can come with visual, sensory, and other symptoms— strikes one in seven people worldwide. Researchers believe that migraine symptoms are caused by neurogenic inflammation along with vascular changes in the brain, but targeting these inflammatory effects hasn’t been as useful for patients as many scientists had hoped.
