Bio
You can also visit my Twitter account for latest updates, or the BrainFacts.org blog where I regularly post.
I am born in 1984 in a smalltown of the Province of Quebec, Canada named Sainte-Sophie. Biology, music, mathematics and archeology were some of the interests that I developed very early during my childhood. As a teenager, I was interested in the observation of fish reproduction in captivity. Beta fishes, Pterophyllum, Gouramis, Poecilia are some of the fishes from which I could observe courtship, nest-building and breeding behaviours. Parallely, I also developed interests for computer programming. Texas Instrument scripts, Matlab, QBasic, Html, Javascript, PHP and MySQL are some of the languages that I used during different parts of my life.
During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I've had diverse interests including biology, anthropology, philosophy and internet sociology. I also participed in numerous activities targeted at stimulating interest in the general public for neuroscience.
I have always been interested in describing society, culture and the neural mechanisms that underlie social interactions in the normal population and in individuals with psychiatric disorders. I think that an understanding of human and animal social behaviors can be obtained by neuroscience and cognitive psychology. Combining neuroscientific techniques with classical approaches describing dynamic social phenomenons such as those found in sociology and economics will allow us to further our understanding of social complexity. I am now studying the neural basis of social cognition in macaques. This work is performed at the Platt laboratory, Duke University.
