About Mentor Match

As part of its commitment to the professional development needs of its members, SfN offers an online mentoring program that features a user-driven mentor matching resource. This unique online networking and career development tool is designed to help neuroscientists around the world find and connect with one another to establish mutually beneficial mentoring relationships.

New this year, you may also enroll as an
annual meeting mentor or mentee. This new option allows young neuroscientists to gain valuable mentoring experience by coaching first-time annual meeting attendees to help them get the most out of the annual meeting experience.  If you are interested in enrolling in the annual meeting mentoring program, please email AMmentormatch@sfn.org. Then, be sure to choose "Optimizing Annual Meeting Experience" during enrollment in the mentoring program. Enrollment directions are below:

Get started by first completing your profile (from the "My Profile" tab above) and then clicking on either the "Mentee Profile" or "Mentor Profile" tabs on the top of your profile page. Here, you will find a link to the mentor and mentee enrollment page. Once you have completed the appropriate sections and enrolled as a mentor or mentee, you may select which type of mentor or mentee you’d like to be (i.e. annual meeting mentor or scientific mentor.) You are not limited to one role – you can be an annual meeting mentor and a scientific mentee simultaneously, or any other combination of roles.

Once you have enrolled as a mentora mentee, or both, you can search the database of SfN members to find mentors and/or mentees with whom you can connect online, by phone, or face-to-face. As a member of NeurOnLine's Mentoring community, you have the opportunity to take advantage of other features such as tracking your mentoring relationships, participating in online discussions related to mentoring, and accessing helpful information via the resource library.

Visit the
Mentoring Community home page for announcements, information, and resources related to SfN's online mentoring program.
